Gerrard - I`m not arsed where I play

GERRARD: RAFA WILL KEEP GETTING IT RIGHT
    Paul Eaton 14 August 2007
Steven Gerrard has backed Rafael Benitez to keep on getting his tactics right this season - even if it means he sometimes moves away from his favoured central midfield role.
Despite spending heavily on a number of new recruits over the summer, only Fernando Torres made his debut for the Reds at the weekend as Benitez began the campaign with a team packed full of league experience.

The starting line-up also included Gerrard in the centre of the field alongside Xabi Alonso, but the skipper admits he is prepared for changes in the manager's tactics as the season goes on.

"To be honest, I don't think all the focus on whether I play in the middle is fair on me, the team or the manager," he said.

"Whether I play in the centre or on the right, I'll always continue to work as hard as I can for the team. What's most important to me is the manager trusts me to play in the middle, and we all trust him to make the right choices for the balance of the side.

"I know there will be times when he'll think Xabi and me playing together is the best option, and occasions when he'll use others there and may ask me to do a different role.

"The manager has said we'll be more positive, but we know that may make us weaker at the back, so we have to be careful.

"It's not just about going all out attack every week against every team, but getting the balance right.

"A different system will suit different teams. Everyone understands that, so different personnel will be used throughout the season."

Nice to hear, its ****in boring now, all this Gerrard has to play in the middle etc bollocks.

The lad himself has just said that he is happy to play wherever rafa plays him as he trusts him. Lets see if we on here can put the argument to bed for a while eh?

This is probably the best comment Gerrard has ever come out with and finally proves he at long last understands the role of Captain.

But as you get older your eyes suffer and I couldn't quite find the "Arsed" bit in his statement.

it was "between the lines" as rafa would say

I think his sulking may be a thing of the past. Well done Sir

            Yes.
            totally agree mate.
I have never had a problem with where Rafa plays Gerrard personally, he has the ability to play anywhere in midfield, including advanced midfield roaming.
Watching the away leg against Barca last year, my ears were nearly bleeding listening to the lads on Sky Sports about how it is a disgrace that Gerrard is not playing central midfield, and how Rafa is getting it wrong, and how it could cost us that game. We all know the result, we beat the Reigning European Champions in their own backyard with a great performance.
Not a word from the pundits about Rafa's inspired tactical lineup. Arbeloa featured strongly aswell in I think what may have been his first performance for us. I could be wrong though.
People should let Rafa do his job, he is IMO. IF Stevie trusts him, so should we, and past decisions should dictate that we trust him.

"Sorry, boss, I should have kept my legs together," said Lawrence. "No, Tommy, your mother should have kept her legs together!," replied Shankly.

Keys, Redknapp, Gray and the other c*nts need their heads smashing together. They talk an incredible amount of bollocks about Gerrard's position, and they talk with a disgusting, assumed authority on the subject - as though they know better than Benitez and as though the likes of Mascherano and Sissoko are second rate. :whatever:
Thanks very much for being ‘This Mornings’ Farmer’

exactly mate, I wish they would ever wise up, and change the ****ing record.

I hate the way that Sky seem to want a bunch of people who all agree on this sort of issue. To be fair you will find any number of people on here who believe the same. What is disappointing is that not one of these professional pundits even questions why Rafa, who after all is a much more successful manager than any of them, doesn't agree with them.

He'll play where Rafa wants which is proper and yes he probably better in the middle but it just shows how good a player he is when he's on form that he can play on the wing too, you wouldnt see Fat Frank out there because he's a limited overrated player
When you feel like you're done, you are not alone........

Those comments from Stevie G will be completely ignored, as people have already said. If we don't beat Chavski 100-0, it'll be "Gerrard didn't seem happy.... why does Benitez rotate the squad so much... blah blah".

I feel sorry for Redknapp in particular. He doesn't realize how much he's embarrassing himself on these shows.

He doesn't, does he. I find it extremely painful viewing.

When I was younger, when I first got Sky, I loved the epic analysis, whereas my old man couldn't bear it. I couldn't understand it, but now I know why.

On Sunday, I had to leave the room. Keys asks *the* most inane questions, incessantly. "What message does this send out?"...."What game have we just seen?"....."Do we praise Reading?".....oh **** off Keys.

So yeah, I feel sorry for Redknapp in a way...being asked consistently inane questions but he comes up with equally inane answers and he can barely put a sentence together.

I was unfortunate/daft enough to see some 'You're On Sky Sports' the other day, and Dean Holdsworth is their new guest.

                          Oh. My. God.

Do the people in charge at Sky think everyone who watches football is completely brain dead?
